These are
the questions that people who have a desire to know God seek to
answer.
There are
many things that can help you on this journey. Some of them are
listed below.
ADULT FAITH FORMATION

Faith Formation
is a life long process. If we are serious about our faith journey,
then we will also be serious about continuing to grow in our faith.
The Catholic Diocese of Evansville, through the office of Adult
Formation, offers man different opportunities for faith
development. Among the many things offered are catechist training
and formation for those who teach religion classes or are a part of
an RCIA Team; Bible Study Classes; as well as opportunities to
pursue a degree in Pastoral Theology through Brescia College in
Owensboro, or Loyola University in New Orleans.
MARRIAGE ENCOUNTER
TURN
A GOOD MARRIAGE
INTO A GREAT MARRIAGE
Worldwide Marriage Encounter offers a weekend experience designed to
give married couples the opportunity to learn a technique of loving
communication that they can use for the rest of their lives. It's a
chance to look deeply into their relationship with each other and
with God. It's a time to share their feelings, hopes and dreams with
each other.
The
emphasis of the Marriage Encounter weekend is on the communication
between husbands and wives. The weekend provides a conducive
environment for couples to spend time together, away from the
distractions and tensions of everyday life, while encouraging them
to focus on each other and their relationship.
It's not a
retreat, marriage clinic, group sensitivity, or a substitute for
counseling. It's a unique approach aimed at revitalizing Marriage.
This is a time for you and your
spouse to be alone together, to rediscover each other and together
focus on your relationship for an entire weekend. Every marriage
deserves that kind of attention!

CURSILLO
"Become a
friend, make a friend, bring that friend to Christ"
To explain Cursillo to someone who has never experienced Cursillo is
at best, difficult. Often, for those who have experienced Cursillo
it is still somewhat mystifying. This is not because the Cursillo
Movement is a "secret" organization. The reason behind the mystery
is God. No one can fully explain how God touches each person in His
special/unique way throughout the various elements of the Cursillo
Movement.
In the
Cursillo Movement, we approach evangelization as a very natural act
of being Christlike within each of our daily activities. We realize
that while most people would like to live their lives in a
Christ-like manner, the pressures of the world often make this
difficult. The Cursillo Movement provides a method and a technique
to provide each of us with the tools, the mentality, the strength,
and the support to make this natural type of evangelization
possible. The Cursillo Movement can assist each of us in developing
a deeper understanding of what it means to be fully Catholic by
being fully Christian.

SPIRITUAL DIRECTION
Spiritual
direction is the process of accompanying people on a spiritual
journey. It is helping people tell their sacred stories everyday.
Spiritual direction helps us learn how to live in peace, with
compassion, promoting justice, as humble servants of God. It is help
given by one Christian to another which enables that person to pay
attention to God’s personal communication to him or her, to respond
to this personally communicating God, to grow in intimacy with this
God, and to live out the consequences of the relationship.
To learn more
about Spiritual Direction, contact the
Pastor. He has received
training in Spiritual Direction is always available to meet with
people to reflect with them on their faith journey. He is also able
to put people in touch with other people who can serve as Spiritual
Directors

PARISH MISSIONS
Each year,
our Religious Education Commission,
provides an opportunity for
members of the parish to attend a Parish Mission/Retreat. Typically
this involves the presenter of the Mission speaking at the weekend
Masses prior to the Mission and then presenting a series of talks
the following days. These presentations are usually held in the
evenings and sometimes during the day. Parish Missions typically
last two to three days.
FAITH
SHARING GROUPS
Many people have discovered the benefit of gathering with other
people to share the experiences of their faith journey. People who
have participated in a Cursillo weekend, for instance, regular
gather in faith sharing groups. Other forms of faith sharing
groups include Bible Study groups We are always interested in giving
people the chance to experience a faith sharing group. Contact our
Director of Religious Education
for more information.
RETREATS
Several people have
found attending a retreat to be helpful for their spiritual growth.
There are several local places that offer retreat opportunities.
One such place is Kordes Retreat Center run by the Benedictine
Sisters of Ferdinand, Indiana.. Another place is St. Meinrad
Archabbey run by the Benedictine Monks of St. Meinrad.. Once a year
men of the parish attend a retreat at the White House, a Jesus
Retreat Center in St. Louis.
