SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE
Getting married is
the single most significant event in the lives of most parishioners.
Marriage is a call to build a partnership of life together. It
becomes the central focus of life through which everything and
everyone else is viewed and related to. Because this is such a
significant event, engaged couples are invited to participate in a
six-month period of prayer and reflection prior to their marriage.
As part of this preparation, couples are asked to meet with the
Pastor and to participate in an Engaged Encounter Weekend which are
held throughout the year. Couples will also meet with our parish
Director of Liturgy to plan the Marriage Ceremony. Engaged couples
need to contact the Pastor before any wedding date is set and to
allow for a six-month period of preparation. Fro more information
and/or to begin preparations for celebrating your marriage contact
Fr. Gene Schroeder.

always available to pray with people and to celebrate the Anointing
of the Sick. (e.g. before surgery) He regular makes visits to the

sick with parishioners. Parishioners are invited and encouraged to

FUNERALS
Arrangements are
made with the Pastor
(usually through a local Funeral Home) for the time and planning of
the Funeral Mass and Memorial Service (a special time of prayer
usually celebrated the night before a funeral to share memories and
to celebrate the life of the deceased). The
Pastor and the
Director of Liturgy and Worship
work with each family to plan the memorial service, funeral mass and
burial.
A special
committee in the parish provides a meal for families following
funerals of parishioners. These committee volunteers prepare food
dishes or help serve at a meal for family members after a funeral of
a parish member. The parish furnishes main dishes and the committee
prepares side dishes. The committee handles setup and cleanup for
the meal. For information and/or the opportunity to be a part of one

SPIRITUAL DIRECTION
Spiritual
direction is the process of accompanying people on a spiritual
journey. It is helping people tell their sacred stories everyday.
Spiritual direction helps us learn how to live in peace, with
compassion, promoting justice, as humble servants of God. It is help
given by one Christian to another which enables that person to pay
attention to God’s personal communication to him or her, to respond
to this personally communicating God, to grow in intimacy with this
God, and to live out the consequences of the relationship.
To learn more
about Spiritual Direction, contact the
Pastor. He has received
training in Spiritual Direction is always available to meet with
people to reflect with them on their faith journey. He is also able
to put people in touch with other people who can serve as Spiritual
Directors
